LinksMost of us are familiar with the usual links in the UT world.
PlanetUnreal, FilePlanet(ugh), and
unrealtournmanet.com are all wel
known. Here I present some links which are of special interest, and some
of my personal favorites
www.gamasutra.com. A great
site for the game developer audience. Articles/interviews about level
design appear with regularity here. A must - see.
www.avault.com
The Adrenaline Vault is my favorite source
for game reviews. They write appreciative in-depth reviews. In short,
they take their job seriously.
The UT Bible: by Florian
Blümm. On how to play UT like a pro. Some of the info here may be
useful for mappers. For example, did you know that rockets can be
deflected with the impact hammer in UT (!). Or that you lose exactly 54
health for every hammer jump?
www.cliffyb.com. The site from
the man himself. But as he says, it is rarely updated. Still there are a
few good articles/rants.
Lode's Tutorials: The
best written tutorials on the Web for UT. The thing is that with Lode's
tutorials, you end up learning more than the topic of the tutorial.
The
Unreal Technology Site: Epic Games runs this site, intended for the
developer audience. Look for the Creature Care and Feeding Guide article
for info about bot-pathing.
THE LIST
by the G.O.A.T and Perfect Chaos: The first thread at the Infogrames UT
Editing forum. A comprehensive list of tutorials. mods and a host of
other stuff for UED editing.
Machismo's
Tutorials: Machismo has a set of well written, easy to read
tutorials here.
The
Ownage List:The one page that has influenced a lot of mappers;
should I say - dictating the mode of thinking and styling of many
mappers. Cliffyb's list of maps which own him is here.
www.beyondunreal.com:
The forums at PlanetUnreal are set up here now.
